What do I do if i’ve been in accident?

The doctors and therapists at Mountain Health and Performance are here to help you if you’ve been injured in a motor vehicle accident. The first thing you will need to do is report the accident to ICBC to initiate the claim process. This can be done on the ICBC website or by phone to receive a claim number. Once you have a claim number, an initial appointment can be setup with the practitioner of your choice. ICBC’s Enhanced Accident Benefits allows for 12 weeks of eligible treatment from the date of the accident.

ICBC Frequently Asked Questions

  • No referral is necessary for treatment. If you are within 12 weeks of your accident and have a claim number, you can start treatment with any of our practitioners. Please bring your claim number with you to your appointment.

  • No, you are pre-approved for chiropractic care, physiotherapy and massage therapy. You can see one, or any combination of practitioners from each respective profession.

  • Please bring your:

    ICBC Claim Number

    Care Card

    Any pertinent medical reports (x-ray reports, etc.)

    And please wear clothing appropriate for the type and area of injury being assessed (shorts and a t-shirt or tank top is usually sufficient).

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for your initial appointment to complete necessary paperwork.

    Initial consultation times vary by practitioner and the extent of your injuries, but ranges from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Similarly, subsequent sessions vary by practitioner and the extent of your injury.

    Your first visit will include the following:

    • Consultation/History

    • Physical examination.

    • Diagnosis and report of findings.

    • Treatment plan and pending time availability, your first treatment.

    The number of sessions you’ll need depends on your condition. During the initial visit your practitioner will assess you, determine your treatment plan and discuss this with you after the assessment.

  • All our chiropractors and massage therapists are registered and approved by ICBC to provide treatment under ICBC’s Enhanced Accident Benefits policy.
