ICBC Treatment & Recovery

Car accidents are one of the most common causes of spine pain and spine related injuries. Injuries from a collision often take longer to treat than other types of injuries. Your chiropractic doctor has the skills to assess and treat motor vehicle related injuries such as whiplash, associated headaches, low back pain, thoracic pain and more.

ICBC No Fee Program

If you have been in a car accident you most likely qualify for the ICBC Flat Fee Program. If ICBC accepts your claim, it will pay for the reasonable expenses you incur for necessary chiropractic treatment. This program is designed to remove any barriers that would prevent immediate access to care.

You do not need to seek pre-approval or require a note from your medical doctor in order to start the ICBC Flat Fee Program with a chiropractor. Simply visit your family chiropractor as soon as you feel symptoms and advise the receptionist that you were involved in a car accident prior to your first visit.

If you decide to participate in the Chiropractic Flat Fee program ICBC will pay a flat fee directly to your chiropractor and you will not be charged any additional fees. The program is a time-based treatment with a specific time frame however the number of visits per week will be based on individual treatment needs.

Prior to your first visit please obtain your ICBC claim number and adjustors name. On your first visit you will need to arrive about 20 minutes prior to your visit in order to fill out the appropriate forms for the flat fee program.

Your first visit will include:

  • An in-depth consultation.
  • A complete neuromuscular examination.
  • A diagnosis and report of findings to ensure you understand your injury.
  • A treatment plan: plan of action that may include: spinal manipulation, spinal mobilization, soft-tissue therapy, laser therapy and rehabilitation.

What should you do immediately following an MVA?

After reporting your claim we will perform a thorough history and examination to document the specific nature of your injuries and recommend a course of treatment. We will provide reports to ICBC and in most cases the treatment is fully covered by your insurance. Please bring your ICBC claim number and any additional documentation relevant to the accident or your injury.
